Improve governance in India
The eGovernments Foundation is one of India’s premiere organisations that assists and enables Urban Local Bodies in their eGovernance implementation. eGov GIS »

eGov GIS offers Extensive Graphic-Visual Decision making using GIS by capturing, storing and analysing geographic data. Since a city’s administration and planning are closely linked to its geography, eGov GIS is expected to evolve into a powerful, standard Geo-database model for urban GIS. When

integrated with the complete eGov Suite, eGov GIS will generate powerful graphical reports for effective municipal administration.

The eGovernments Foundation has come up with a eGov Property and GIS Toolkit or GeoDatabase Model for Urban GIS, a detailed set of documents and workflows that are necessary for a thorough survey of Urban areas to create completely integrated MIS and GIS databases. The eGovernments Foundation has partnered with The Survey of India in creating a standard model for representing Urban GIS data. The  GeoDatabase Model for Urban GIS has been written so that standardised data can be collected by vendors and agencies across the country.

Client Prototype

eGov GIS initiated our parcel level mapping for Byatrayanapura municipality, located north of Bangalore. eGov GIS created a basemap for city planning and administration with a specialized thematic layer for property taxation. Prior to replication across the complete list of 56 cities in Karnataka, The eGovernments Foundation prototyped eGov GIS in one municipality, Byatrayanapura, just north of Bangalore. On November 26, 2003, the system was inititated in Byatrayanapura municipality. Upon completion, the project was demonstrated to several ministers of Karnataka including the Chief Minister.

Our partners in the prototyping of this GIS project include:

  • The Survey of India
  • KRSAC, Karnataka Remote Sensing and Application Center
  • Secon Surveys, a private surveyor
  • ESRI, a California based GIS operator
